He entered Starfleet Academy, earned many honors, and was commissioned as a lieutenant on the U.S.S. Farragut. Following his tenure aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701, in which many parts of the galaxy were explored, Kirk was promoted to admiral and given command of the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-A. Following Kirk's crucial role in the Khitomer Peace Conference, he was present for the maiden fvoyage of the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-B. During its premier flight, this ship assisted in the rescue of an El Aurian crew, which included a certain Dr. Soran. Following the rescue, Dr. Soran, Kirk, outfitted in the Starfleet regulation space suit, directly encountered a bizarre space anomaly known as the Nexus Ribbon.
