Specific Incident: Starfleet Command learned that certain galactic raiders were looting Romulan archaeological sites. Captain Jean-Luc Picard was investigation the thefts on planet Dessica 2, when the alien pirates captured him. According to Picard's incident report, he told them that he was a smuggler named Galen, and that he was an expert in ancient artifacts. (Notes: Starfleet database indicates that Captain Picard's archaeology teacher was Professor Richard Galen, famous for his galactic gene theory.) A Romulan woman name Tallera was in charge of the pirate operation. Their goal: to find the mystical Stone of Gol, which now lay in several pieces throughout the galaxy. The Stone of Gol is a psionic resonator which can focus the thoughts of it s holder to kill an opponent. When Picard, posing as Galen, tried to organize a mutiny, Tallera revealed that she was a double agent working for the Vulcan Security Force. Radicals on Vulcan wanted to capture the Stone of Gol and isolate Vulcan from all outside contact. All parts of the stone were recovered, but then Picard/Galen discovered that Tallera actually worked for the Vulcan radicals! The stone has a weakness: it cannot conquer peace. When she tried to use the stone against Picard, he cleared his mind of all violent thoughts, and took the stone away from her. She is currently in custody on the planet Vulcan.
