Profile: Data, Lieutenant Commander. Product of cyberneticist, Dr. Noonian Soong. Data is the pinnacle of robotic engineering. Perhaps the only external clues which would indicate Data is an android is his golden pallor and yellow, irised eyes. Equipped with a sophisticated bio-processor, Data displays amazing humanlike qualities. His exceptional memory made him an outstanding student at Starfleet Academy: his test scores proved he was both intelligent and sentient. Data quickly ascended through the ranks of Starfleet, where he is currently a Lieutenant Commander. Due to his swift analytical skills and unflinching truthfulness, Data is an excellent candidate to accompany Captain Picard on diplomatic missions. Throughout his service aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise, Data has befriended many crew members, including Geordi LaForge and Deanna Troi. That, along with his sentient nature, makes Data more humane than one would expect from an android.
