In the year 2029, Leo Davidson, an astronaut aboard the space station Oberon, took part in a test flight into an electromagnetic storm and was pulled in. Finding himself in the year 5021, Davidson crashes onto a mysterious planet. Here he horrifically learns this world is ruled by a host of intelligent apes while man has become second string on nature's string and are used as slaves. Seeing how low his odds are alone, Davidson follows a group of humans all the while trying to find a way off this mysterious planet and back to his own time.
