Commander of the Klingon Bird-of-Prey, the most feared vessel in space. In 2285 Kruge was sent on a mission by the Klingon government to obtain information on the Federation’s Genesis Project. The project was a top secret, highly controversial endeavor. Experiments were done to transform uninhabitable planets into environments that were able to support life. The Genesis Device was used to cause a massive explosion meant to destroy a planet. The remaining particles would then be manipulated by a programmed matrix to form a habitable environment. The project was abandoned when the protomatter used to detonate the Genesis Device was found to be highly volatile. In retribution for the murder of his son, David Marcus, James Kirk killed Commander Kruge while on the Genesis planet.
