Originally working as a lower card wrestler, Kanyon's first major feud was against Glacier in 1997. During this time, Kanyon wrestled under a mask using the name Mortis, and was depicted as an Asian pitfighter. Managed by James Vandenberg, Kanyon had an alliance with Wrath, another masked wrestler, and the duo frequently fought Glacier. Eventually, the Glacier feud fell into the background and Mortis and Wrath went their separate ways.
Mortis attempted to align himself with Raven and the Flock, but was told that he could only become a member if he defeated Diamond Dallas Page for the United States Championship. After losing a match to DDP, Mortis received a DDT from Raven. This event lead to Kanyon unmasking and starting a feud with Raven. Kanyon would be heavily involved with Raven and Saturn for several months and became a mainstay of the WCW midcard. Though elements of his persona would change overtime, Kanyon for the most part would be a character known for a unique and innovative wrestling style and an obnoxious personality.
Kanyon wrestled with WCW until the company was bought out by the WWF. He was one of the more well known WCW wrestlers to appear as a member of the Alliance during the WWF Invasion storyline and wrestled with the company until 2003. Kanyon sadly passed away in April of 2010.
