Mirage is a aristocractic pretty boy. Hailing from Cybertrons upper class Mirage joined the Autobots as an "in" thing to do. Some of his fellow Autobots believe that he would change sides as fast Blurr makes a speech, but Optimus Prime knows other wise. Mirages ability to turn invisible makes him a valuable asset to the Autobot cause and has gotten them out of plenty of sticky situation. This and his previous experience hunting turbo foxs make him an ideal soldier.

Starscream is as ruthless and vicious as Megatron, and he makes this point clear to every Decepticon, including Megatron himself. Starscream vies for the role of Decepticon leader and has boldly tried wresting leadership away on multiple occasions. Why does Megatron keep him around?, because Starscream is the best their is at what he does. Starscream is the fastest and most powerful of the seeker jets and can reaches speeds in excess of Mach 5. He is precise and deadly with his null beams and has no regard for human or Autobot life. Starscream main fault is that he cannot accept his own weaknesses, making him unable to lead (as Megatron put it) "An army of 100 in a parade." After Starscream has served his purpose in the Decepticon ranks Megatron plans on killing him, himself, his reward for being a good soldier in the Decepticon army.
