Anybody know who this weird looking dude is? in Identify Help by Patraw
Thursday, January 11, 2018
   [Edit]
Anybody recognize who this guy is or what toy line he's from? I got him Tuesday, in a small paper lunch bag full of random "creepy dudes" figures that I bought from a local thrift store, but I'm drawing a complete blank on his identity. He's roughly the same scale/style as the original 3-3/4" G.I.JOE figures (he doesn't have their "swivel-arm-battle-grip" elbow/biceps joints though, but he does have wrist joints, which vintage JOEs lack, and he's got a swivel waist instead of the G.I.JOE rubber O-ring). There isn't any copyright date or company name molded on the body anywhere that I can find (just "L" and "R" codes to designate which sides of his body the limbs go on during assembly at the factory), but, if I had to guess, I'd say he's pro...[See More]

Okay, a guy on another forum I belong to asked around for me and found out what he is. Turns out he's "Hamburger Brain" from Jakks Pacific's MXS Zombies line--something that I'd never heard of or seen before. He came in a boxed set with a human (Xterminator), two motorcycles, two bike stands, a machine gun, and an air tank. Mystery solved!

Possibly. His pallid, purplish skin tone and black bones suggest something rather unpleasant has befallen him and the yellow/orange color of the transparent plastic would go with electricity.

I wonder if that's supposed to be the "electrified" or "x-ray" version of a character, like all those weird Batman figures from the '90s

Usually I'm not into that "vintage toy" vibe but I like this. I'm guessing it lights up? Transforms maybe?

(I couldnt find anything about it either)

Photobucket doesn't allow you to post pictures elsewhere anymore without a paid account with them, try using imgur.com.

(I asked the site admin to update the help tip to imgur.com too, sorry if that was confusing)

Haha, yeah, when you said 9 inches tall and looks like a goblin I suspected it might be the Annihilus BAF figure.

If you're having trouble posting a pic here, you could always load it to a host site and post the link. Does the figure look at all like this...???

Thanx a lot Nightmare. So from your knowledge BLACK & RED pieces are from the 1984 version?

I looked at the Collectiondx link & that is the 1997 version Voltron w/ the chrome weapons. So it makes me think chrome weapons are not the 1984 version.

So I know you probably don't know but color are the 1st wave weapons for the 1984 Voltron Red or Black?

Found pics of the chrome pieces http://www.collectiondx.com/toy_review/voltron

The toy being reviewed is a re-issue of the original die-cast "Popy Golion DX" version. I don't know how you would tell if your chrome pieces are original or reproductions though, maybe if you read the review you'll find out.

Blank Cobra Soldier - Customizer variant? in Identify Help by MoonKnight1
Tuesday, July 11, 2017
   [Edit]
I have been collecting GI Joe figures since the early eighties and buying and selling them for the past ten years or so and I like to think I am somewhat of an expert on them. However, I still find new ones and learn things about them all of the time. I recently acquired a large collection and this came with it. The seller didn't know much about it and I have been unable to find out much info on it. The figure appears to be a mold of the Cobra The Enemy version 1.5 (swivel-arm) from 1983 but there is no Hasbro or date stamp on it. If anyone has ever seen one of these before or knows anything about it do tell!

Thanks for the reply, Dr Nightmare! I actually found out a little more about it. Called Blank White Proto-Trooper and was made by a guy calling himself Red Laser (took over from Black Major). He apparently casts custom GI Joe figures and sells them. Not sure how he gets around trademarks and such.

Cool, thanks for the follow-up. I like the idea, guess it's like getting blank Dunnys to customize.

Wish there were more people out there, like Boss Fight Studios, etc., making blanks and generic parts compatible with 6 and 4 inch figs to customize. Feet, hands, helmets, etc.

Probably just a factory sample/prototype, like all the ones on ebay that bootleggers produce and try to sell for $100 lol

I would be tickled if that were some kind of "customizing variant", but considering the big companies have never done that kind of thing, I have to doubt it.

The main body is from the Red Hulk BAF, they also released a whole green version though. You can get them for like 20 bucks from China, thats what that guy who submits all the monster customs does.

I want to say the feet are sculpted because it looks like theres metal wire coming out the broken tip of a claw
