Superman
Reactivated (DC Direct) - Series 3 - Super Friends
Rated 5.00 stars by Collector1
The Super Friends, a campy kid friendly version of the Justice League of America, cartoon show drew many young children to love comics in the 70's and 80's. It's character designs became legendary and fans often squeal with a sense of nostalgia when they see a Super Friends dvd, toy, or even the famous opening lines of the TV. show. It was only natural for DC Direct to produce a line of toys based upon the legendary cartoon. Super Friends Superman features bright, cheery colors, representative of the innocents of comics and of cartoons of the time. His face his soft and friendly with an All American smile and bright baby blues. Unlike most DC Direct figures, Super Friends Superman offers a fair amount of articulation with movable head, hands, arms, knees, legs and a swivel joint...[See More]
Bass
MegaMan NT Warrior (Mattel) - 5" Scale
Rated 2.50 stars by Collector1
Bass, Forte, whatever you call him, he remains one of Megaman's deadliest foes in every incarnation. This particular version comes from the Battle network series of games, set in an alternate timeline to the Main Megaverse in which Network technology evolved instead of Robotics. This toy, for the most part, stays true to the games design. A soft rubber cloak that can be fitted around his body as long as you remove the twin yellow spikes on his shoulders. Bass also comes with an interchangeable buster with a purple Dark Shot. The buster can be put on either arm. His head is massive with the finned helmet, Bass' trademark. Another feature is a scare that cuts from his left shoulder to his right hip, going through his chest icon on the way. The figure sadly lacks articulation. Only the...[See More]
Spider-Man (Battle Ravaged)
Spider-Man (Toy Biz) - Animated - Series 5
Rated 5.00 stars by Collector1
I first got this toy when I was but a wee little child from a K-Mart that has long since been closed. Always the Spider-Man Otaku (second only to Superman), I had to have this. Even though the first figure I had of this is most likely shattered in a thousand little pieces, I was able to find one of the inter-web, sorry couldn't resist, and tore that sucker open. The web-backpack is soft and squishy, able to be opened up just enough to fit a curled up Doctor Octopus Arm, that comes with the figure, inside. The backpack is able to clip onto Spider-Man's back and hold tightly at that. A small camera can be attached at his waist by means of a small hole and peg. The severed Tentacle is highly flexible and can be held in either hand. Onto the figure itself. The paint job is just a little...[See More]
Godzilla
Godzilla - King of the Monsters (Trendmasters) - Carded Figures
Rated 4.00 stars by Collector1
Ah, Godzilla. What is not to like about him? He is essentially a big lizard that breaths fire and puts the smack down on countless aliens in ugly leotards, stomps around Japan, crushes the military under foot, and beats up his friends I.e., monsters too stupid to pay protection fish. And the toys, oh the Godzilla toys! Rarely containing vast amounts of articulation stay mostly true to the big lovable titan. This Godzilla is much the same. The only points of articulation are the stubby little T-Rex style arms that go up and down, the legs, the very back of the tail, the head which goes left and right. The body itself is hollow, or at least feels hollow to me, and contain the magic that makes Godzilla roar whenever you press a little red button on his chest. That is about all that...[See More]
Optimus Prime
Transformers - Movie (Hasbro) - Leader Class
Rated 4.50 stars by Collector1
From the tiny little rivets, and the subtle autobot symbol on top of the grill, this Optimus Prime is one of the most detailed I've ever seen! Each finger is individually mobile with the thumbs having a ball and socket joint. This enable you to make Optimus give awesome poses and give the bird to Megatron. The figure, like almost all modern Transformers, is incredible possible, but its weight and bulkiness often make it lose balance. The gun is sleek and futuristic with a spring loaded launcher, giving it a good range. The head, while close to the movie, falls a little flat with very little detail. The transformation is tricky at first, but with practice, it becomes second nature. The "automorph" feature here is for his head. Once in robot mode, to complete the transformation,...[See More]
Superman
Batman - Hush (DC Direct) - Series 2
Rated 4.50 stars by Collector1
Right of the bat, no pun intended, the figure struck me as a dramatic and very accurate representation of Jim Lee's art. Once out of the package, I took a deep breath of that wonderful new DCD Toy smell. In better light and under a more scrutinizing eye, I still found virtually no flaws. The muscle mass was just right and not exaggerated. The arms were flesh tone, painted blue, while most of the body and legs where blue plastic painted red or yellow. The Kryptonite veins or vines on the hand and neck were a nice touch, but when I first saw them thought they were mold. The cape is one of my favorite bits. The wind swept and tattered look is very dramatic. My only complaint is the pole that fits into his back and the base. While it stays upright and firm for maybe a day, it quickly...[See More]
