Removing feet from All-Father Scarlet Witch

Posted in Custom Workstation

Hey guys! Hope y'all can shed some light on my situation.

I want to use my old All-Father Scarlet Witch (the one with the heels) for a custom figure, but unfortunately I can't disassemble her legs/feet. I tried heating up the joints multiple times, but what happens is that the joint itself threatens to come loose and stretches out of the leg socket before the peg even comes out of the feet. I've had that problem with the rest of the figure too (removing her arms from her upper torso) but it hasn't been nearly as bad as this. When I heat it up, I'm worried I'll pull the whole joint out of the leg before I pull the peg from the foot.

Am I doing something wrong? Maybe a wrong angle?

You will need to brace the ankle joint at the end of the leg. A small pair of craft pliers should work. You will also need to get the figure good and hot. After that, you should be good.

The brace method worked on one foot. The other snapped the peg out entirely - I assume because I already tried to pull it out multiple times before so it just gave out now.

And holy frick that peg is huge - what was Hasbro thinking??

Right? Toy companies have no problem using narrower heads to make interchangeable body parts, the joints stay sturdy, so I don't understand why they don't do that with every peg, instead of doing weird sh*t like super narrow shafts with giant heads on the pegs.

Anyway, I had the same problem removing the feet of that Witch fig, the ankle pegs stretched but at least they didn't break.

Since I'm still in the market for heeled feet, what are the chances of the SDCC The Raft Enchantress' feet being a better option? Or do those stretch/have horrible pegs too?

Considering all these figures use the same bodies it'll probs have the same issue.

I was considering 3D printing replacement joints for cases like this, but there doesn't seem to be much interest in 3D printing stuff for action figures, and people I've collaborated with flake out.

(I should rephrase, there's interest in printing stuff for figures, but no one wants to do any work to make it happen haha)

I mean, you never know. The bodies may be the same, but the quality of plastic could be different!

Oh God, I'd love it if someone started to 3D print/cast figure pieces. Especially things like heeled feet, or different body parts (like making casts/prints of the Moonstone body). Sadly, I lack talent in that area.
