To Return or to.. Fix?

Action Figure ChatterOk so a while back I got a Monsterarts King Kong, presumably legit. And for a good price. The problem is, the head was loose in the package where the neck joint had popped out of the socket. I can get it to go back into the socket with difficulty but any movement of the head causes it to come out. I can't get a replacement from Tamashii because the figure is too old and if I return it, I'm not getting another one because the prices are roughly 3x what I paid. So should I return it and blow the $60 elsewhere or does anyone here have any good ideas?

The fact that is difficult to insert but bops out easily may be two things, that come to my mind. One is not really inserting all the way, try lipbalm to see if you can insert it further, or the socket is two small, this might need to require sanding either in the neck ball joint to decrease size (This could worsen the problem), or grinding the joint to make a bigger, or deeper actually receiver.
