WWII, a time of great evil and foul ambition. On an island off the coast of Scotland, Nazi scientists have created a machine that they hope will allow them to summon forth embodiments of evil to use to conquer the world. However, things do not go to according to plan. A surprise attack by the Allies destroys the summoning machine and kills many scientists, allowing only one being to pass through the gate: Hellboy. Taken under the guiding wing of the allies, Hellboy is raised to protect the world from paranormal creatures. Armed with powerful abilities and modern weapons, Hellboy fights for the side of good and against the darkness.
