How big is your collection... NOW? in Action Figure Chatter by Deaditor
Friday, September 11, 2015
   [Edit]
I just had a thought that my collection differs from when I was a child, seems obvious, but what I mean is my LOTR collection for example was significantly smaller in my child life and then I got rid of it all and now I have more than before, but still 2 figures I used to have I lack. On the flipside I have aover the top sized Star Wars collection that I have never downsized and it will get larger after I see Episode VII I am sure. My Marvel collection is larger, but not in number sense but in cahracter sense. I have too many Marvel universe figures that I don't even use, probably gonna sell them all save a few, and I have a reasonable Marvel Legends collection and the odd 5 inch figure from the Spiderman animated series. I prefer 6inch fig...[See More]

I class my current collection as 'growing'. My childhood collection consisted of collections. I would have mostly received sets of toy lines. I am still very much collecting sets but very specific. Tmnt, 1988 10 back carded line for instance. I currently have 5 out of 10 of these. My intitial interest is in moc action figures.

My "collection" was much larger when I was a child. My TMNT stuff by itself was impressive. Of course, calling it a collection is disingenuous because I wasn't so much collecting stuff as getting more toys to play with.

Cleaning figures in Action Figure Chatter by Angry-Moth-Noises
Saturday, August 1, 2015
   [Edit]
So I was looking at my S.H Figuarts Broly (I got him on Tuesday) and when I opened him all was good. A few days ago I noticed a tiny speck of black on his forehead and side of his nose. I tried to rub it off but it wont come off. So part of me thinks its paint. Any idea on how I can remove this? Its driving me insane. I am all ways really protective over the figure because its my fav and I want these spots off. His other parts seem to be fine....[See More]

That always happens when im painting figures, specks of dirt or hair will magically fall onto the figure as I paint

Anyway, it was probably always there so it could be paint, first try scrubbing it with soap and a toothbrush to see if it comes off. Then try scraping it off. Last you can try a qtip and alcohol or acetone.
Is there a toy photography site that people use? in Action Figure Chatter by Darkhearst

   [Edit]
Hi guys. I thought this site was going to have a lot of activity, but it turns out people only post here every few days. Is there a toy photography community that actually has users?
Thanks....[See More]

Unfortunately many toy sites are ghost towns now

Deviant Art is alright, I get commissions there sometimes. It's mostly full of kids though so don't expect meaningful comments on your work, if you get any at all.

I imagine everyone has moved to the popular social sites, but I don't use them so I can't comment on their activity.

Batman v Predator: how I started collecting again in Action Figure Chatter by Corky McMasterson
Monday, July 13, 2015
   [Edit]
Read the comics, had to have figures on my desk. Red Hood wasn't planned, and it took a cool minute to decide between him and the New 52 version. In the end it was the Arkham Knight series I went with (great figs!), and the cool Cracked Tusk and Viper Predators.

Around those figures I thought it would be cool to get a sort of battle royal premise going. We got Black Mask and Joker in there calling shots. Deathstroke, new 52 Joker w/ more pale skin than white, and Neca Bishop, and Neca Jonah Hex with some pretty menacing masks I fashioned out of gijoe torsos.

I've got the Arrow TV Series Deadshot and Neca endoskeleton en route, was thinking about that final showdown Neca Rambo with One of these crazy masks, but I'm leaning towards a N...[See More]
Modern era figures yellowing already?? HELP!! in Action Figure Chatter by Darth Veach
Thursday, June 25, 2015
   [Edit]
What do you guys use to store loose figures?

Anyone know if I am doing something wrong?? I just pulled out some Star Wars figures from around 2005-2007 and I am already noticing discoloration on some. Even carded ones! Mind you, all my loose figures are stored individually in poly zip bags like most collectors. Carded ones are stored in comic book boxes and all of them are in a dark closet out of sunlight or extreme temperatures. Plus I am a strict non smoker! I am baffled to say the least. Stormtroopers and Biker Scouts from around this time have slightly yellow torsos now. And a Vintage Collection Lando I just pulled out is discolored on the torso as well! Is this just the way things go? I can't imagine there is anything else I could've ...[See More]

Yeah, it sucks, but I think that may just be the answer. Probably why one goes yellow and another doesn't. It just depends on the figure I guess.

I don't think you are doing anything wrong, its just the newer plastics they are using.

Backwards foot on ML figure in Action Figure Chatter by knightrangert
Wednesday, June 3, 2015
   [Edit]
I'm very new to collecting and I just got a ML Spider Girl and on of her feet is on backwards. The foot and the round part that inserts into the leg is put in backwards. I can see that all I need to do is remove it and turn it around but I don't know how to remove it. I've tried but I can't get it to budge. Can anyone please help?...[See More]

On the Marvel Legends Spider Girl the calves can rotate all the way around, the feet can rotate all the way around. I fail to see why you would need to heat n pop anything to fix a backwards foot.

If the rotation is at the upper calf rather than the ankle then turning the whole lower leg would look bad. And on some figs nothing below the hip rotates. I'm not sure about that spider girl fig but there should either be a pin to pop out or two bumps that the bottom of the leg needs to be pulled around. Either way the best things I've found for these jobs are: getting the plastic really hot and flexible (water or air), and brutally murdering figures I don't care about but that have similar joints to my main project. Then you can see from the inside what you're up against. Good luck.

Unless I'm missing something, just rotate it. I just can't imagine how a foot capable of rotating could be on backwards.
