Hi All,

I love Star Wars, the history of Kenner and other Kenner toys from the 1970s and 1980s. I recently started a new blog http://www.retrotoyinfo.co.uk

The pictures used in the blog were all taken by me from toys in my personal collection.

I have collected Star wars toys for over 20 years and created the blog simply because I am so interested in Kenner and Star Wars toys.

Be interested to hear any comments. I have made a start and posted 6 posts on it in the last couple of weeks and will be making regular new posts on toys and history of retro toys.

Happy new year

Displaying carded figures? in Action Figure Chatter by vaindioux

Hi

I have 5 or 6 bins full of carded figures in my basement. I want to display them in a spare bedroom I have but I am not sure how. This is only for carded figures as loose figures are easy to display in cabinets.

That's very helpful, I was actually thinking about that.
I will go to Lowes and get one to try.

I was looking for images but can't seem to find them again lol. It was on a wrestling forum, basically you can carpet the whole wall in packages and it's all completely modular. Just try to get the thinnest frame possible, or maybe even frameless to get a seamless look.

Alternately, get thin sheets of eva foam (like floor mats), though they would have to be dense enough to support the packages.

I've seen people put up cork boards then simply hang the packages from pins or hooks
Super-Articulated Action Figure Blanks (Kickstarter) in Action Figure Chatter by Henchmen4Hire

It's been a while since I've run my mouth, so here we go lol

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/14 ... nav_search

This is what I've been wanting, blank figures that are ready to be modified without needing to grind off molded belts or boots or whatever.

However, that desire came with the assumption that they would be MUCH cheaper than the stuff we see on the pegs today. I assumed that if the figures didn't need to be painted or packaged, and there was no need to pay to use the likeness of any character or logo, that the figures would be much cheaper. But here is this Kickstarter campaign that crushes my hopes.

Not only do these figures cost the same as the ludicrously (and eve...[See More]

An update

This project was successfully funded, congrats to those folks.

However, I'm not sure if I'm more disappointed in the figure collectors who are so eager to pay through the nose for more of this same stuff, or customizers who don't speak up and ask what makes these things worth buying over what's already out there for our needs. As far as I can tell, the answer is nothing. ...

Absolutely right, 5-10 dollars for figures is the answer for those folks at Cryptid Toys, or have some actual characters worthwhile to go with the blanks that we would be willing to spend on. I am curious to see what they have in store for the 6" scale after the Female bodies get unlocked... Aliens?

I'd be interested in a parts pack with many different alien heads/hands/feet, and lots of human heads too.

Fullbody aliens would be sweet, I love scifi and creature stuff.

Hey, guys! How are things? I've got a question, can I apply lacquer or varnish to a custom action figure in order to get a little brightness without affecting the joints?...[See More]

Alright, thank you very much for your help and coreection.
There's any suggestion in order to protect the joints just in case that it doesn't work?

Generally, yes, assuming the paint and varnish are compatible. As always, test it on a scrap piece first.

What do you mean by "brightness" though? If you mean "gloss", then yeah, varnish/sealer comes in different finishes, like matte, satin, and gloss.

My guess would be because there's low demand for it, so it's not a smart gamble for someone to make one without having a buyer lined up.
