Saturday, June 6, 2020
   [Edit]
Does anybody know where to get a 6" giant penny for a dio? The biggest I've been able to find is 3". I was hoping maybe someone knows where to find one, or could possibly put a 3d print on shapeways or something....[See More]

Best bet is to get a 3D model of a penny and have someone print it for you with an FDM printer.

Reddit has a large community of people looking for gigs like that https://www.reddit.com/r/3Dprintmything/

The closest that I once found to imitate the Batcave penny was a small round wooden tray, so I guess it could only be customized from similar-sized kitchen appliances.

   [Edit]
Has anyone taken apart the new McFarlane Bloodshot action figure yet? I got 2 yesterday and the feet and boots just don't look right, so I want to attempt a swap, but I can't tell how they're connected and don't want to break anything...[See More]

I popped the head off, didn't realize the neck was attached to it though. Is there a peg inside the head as well so I can pop a different head on the same neck connection?

All I can suggest is you go to a local secondhand store (if possible) and look for clothes with fur trim, then harvest from that.

Thanks for the suggestion, I wound up just using some felt. I think it looks fairly close to fur at that scale.

There are tutorials in the Tutorials section showing how you can attach any heads to any body.

In my experience, as long as it's a ball joint, you can make it work.
If the socket is too loose, I fill it with scotch sticky tack. If it's too small, I either heat and pop or hollow out the head with my Dremel. Hope this helps.
starting out with custom action figure making in Custom Workstation by themechanicalmonstermaker
Monday, May 4, 2020
   [Edit]
so sometimes I look around images of action figures or stuff with an action figure line and I typed in machine empire (cause zeos a cool series :3) and I noticed someone made a custom figure of a character who didn't get a figure originally. long story short Id really like to develop my modelling skills into making custom action figures, mostly of villain characters cause a lot don't get their own figures. id really appreciate any advice be it for beginner or just for hobby purposes. sorry im not good with words but I tend to write a lot, really though id be grateful for any advice, tutorials or just basic tips.

@ themechanicalmonstermaker

BAF stands for "build a figure"...if you got a whole series of certain marvel legends or dc universe classics each figure comes with one or two parts for a big one wich mostly fits to the storyline of the series.you can easily put them together to...yeah,build a figure

Don't expect greatness the first time out. You can have all the best and fancy tools, follow every tutorial, but customizing is just like any other artistic hobby... you might be a savant right out of the gate, but expect your first customs to be mediocre. Get your feet wet with simple stuff first (simple repaints, simple part swaps, etc) before diving into any crazy nonsense that involves pieces from 5 figures and a sea shell. Also, if you get figures for BaFs or whatever, keep them. You never know when that one stupid Thor figure you've got buried in a box will have the exact belt or boot you need for something you want.

Thank you very much! This is exactly the sort of advice I was hoping for, I’m grateful for your help ^^ il start out small and when I’m ready move onto bigger game.

One question, what’s BaF stand for?
DC Essentials: Cracking Torso? in Custom Workstation by TomatoisJP
Thursday, May 7, 2020
   [Edit]
So I'm about to recieve a bunch of figures for what's going to be a rather involved custom using a DC Essentials Aquaman as a base, and one of the big things I'll need to do is break down the figure (I need to swap an arm out and fully paint the thing). Has anyone who has worked with them give me an idea of how tough they are to crack open?...[See More]

I was just about to post this question - can you make a Shredder head cast? I was looking for an IDW comic Shredder type of head, but the 2003 Shredder head would work too.
