How am I gonna snag the new X-men wave? in Action Figure Chatter by RedRobinCustoms
Monday, June 20, 2016
   [Edit]
I assume that Ice-man, Kitty Pryde, and Havoc are going to be the easiest to snag, maybe pheonix too. But seeing how Deadpool, Wolverine, Cable and Rogue are sold out on every site, and Deadpool has already hit $89.99 on ebay, I'm starting to lose hope. My fiance and my roommate both work overnight at a Wal-Mart, and are pretty good at spotting the figures and snagging them, said they will keep there eyes open. However, like I said they seem to be going before they even touch the shelves. I doubt hasbro learned from the last time they released a deadpool, and a wolverine and produced enough of them to be distributed....[See More]

Bootleg Ninja Turtles (They're pretty...pretty smelly!) in Action Figure Chatter by Henchmen4Hire
Saturday, March 26, 2016
   [Edit]
Finally bought a 4 pack of the turtles from china, and they're great, except that they're also horrible lel

[Picture]

The turtles come individually sealed in baggies, when you open the baggies POW! You're elbowed in the face by powerful eye-watering fumes. Those bootleggers took the realism too far, I don't need these things smelling like an industrial sewer.

The chemical cocktail smells like a mix between wet tupperware and turpentine, it did make my eyes water and the stench lingers on my fingers. I'm guessing the bootleggers package these things too quickly, not giving the paint enough time to dry completely. Or they just hate ugly Americans and are taking us out in the least effective way possible, one toy collec...[See More]

I got a red bandana set for $54, They came in bubble-packs with no smell and perfectly OK weapons. Every batch's quality might be drastically different, I guess.

Yeesh! Good god, that is horrible, whatever you do don't drill into the figures, I heard the fumes could LITERALLY kill you if you sniff the fumes. I would throw the figures away......
Great price though, but I guess you have to pay another price to get figures this cheap
Penny Dreadful figures in Action Figure Chatter by bjpalm1994
Wednesday, June 1, 2016
   [Edit]
Hello Gang, I was wanting to know if anyone has any experience with the figures based on the Penny Dreadful show? They're made by Biff Bang Pow toys and I know them to be more of a novelty/collectible company. I have seen the figures several times for decent prices and thought about picking a couple up for customs or background characters in displays since their clothing is pretty normal and the seem to have ML type articulation. I can't seem to find any reviews so I thought you all might be able to help me out.
Thanks ...[See More]

I just bought the Dorian Grey and Vanessa Ives figures, and am planning to use Vanessa to make myself a 6" Madame Vastra from Doctor Who. I can post some pictures and my first impression when they arrive if you like. ?

Cool! Pics would be great! I went ahead and picked up a Dorian Grey fig and my first impression is they aren't Marvel Legends or anything but they're not bad. No plans at the moment for him but he looked to be the most normal/sorta modern looking one. He might work for a good western custom. Thanks for the response!

Anyone into building mech model kits? in Action Figure Chatter by Henchmen4Hire
Saturday, July 2, 2016
   [Edit]
I, uh, "accidentally" ordered a bunch of Gundam 1/144th model kits because they were cheap and cool looking. Ive built 3 of them so far, and while theyre nice as is, I do want to go the extra step and detail one.

Any of you in Los Angeles want to hang out for a few hours and school me on how to make these things pretty? Or should I say weathered and ugly? lol

It's kinda hot to be working on stuff inside, but we can work in your garage or something. I can buy pizza or give you fodder as thanks or whatever, let me know

Also, what other kind of mech kits are out there besides Gundams? I'm also into sci-fi planes...[See More]

I've built the Gundam 1/144 RG Red frame model
And in the instructions the weathering was not recommended, but me being a customiser I did get some silver panini and drybrushed the black parts and gave some areas a little battle damage, if you look at my profile pic, that's the Gundam, and if you notice his gun was subject to dry rushing by me.
So no panel lines, but weathering.
And it's recommended you use clippers of an exacto knife to cut the nubs off
Good luck

Cool, what kit did you get? Are you going to do any weathering or panel lines?

Getting rid of all the nubs where the parts connected to the sprue tree is driving me crazy lol

Your so funny....that's marvel legends ON SALE
They're usually 35-40 bucks a piece
We also have black series figures, they're also 35-40 bucks
I know America's dollar is worth more than our Aussie dollar but 35 Aussie bucks works out to 26 bucks in American
Oh look at the mess I made in Action Figure Chatter by Deaditor
Wednesday, March 23, 2016
   [Edit]
How many boxes or areas do you have dedicated to used hacked up parts that you haven't gotten rid of because you think there's a chance you can use them for something else lol. I think I've got like 4 shoe boxes of spare parts and some other dedicated areas. I do most of my customising at my desk at one place or use my double bed at home as there's a desk next to it. Sometimes you end up on the floor for customs that take too much space or you want to hoover up any clippings or dust from sanding etc but yeah what do you peeps do, probably always have a workspace and keep things in a chaotic order that only you understand like me xD...[See More]

Oof, I threw away a lot of parts a while ago and gave some away, and I still have like 3 grocery bags full of parts. Then I have 4 big plastic tubs full of stuff I like that I can't even display lol. I think it's time to sell off another lot.
Casting Question. in Action Figure Chatter by MercMouth Customs
Monday, May 9, 2016
   [Edit]
Okay, so I'm currently in the process of making casts of an action figure that I have made in the past so that I don't spend as much time molding the same parts over and over. The body parts come out fine, but when I make casts of the joints, they cure hard, but brittle, so they snap if enough pressure is put on them. I'm worried about quality control, so I was wondering if anyone out there knows of a way or material to cast hard but flexible parts. I'm considering using a clear resin normally used for casting clear glasses or protective table covering, but I don't know if the material is any less brittle than casting resin.

Any advice or ideas would be great.

Thanks!...[See More]
Custom Comments in Action Figure Chatter by MercMouth Customs

   [Edit]
(Sigh) It is a very depressing thing when you don't get any comments on that awesome figure you've spent ages working on.

I was wondeing if anyone had any advice on how to attract comments? Like the best time to submit a custom, how the featured custom works, and just any advice if you know any tips or tricks....[See More]

Featured customs are a way for paying users to get a few more days of "front page" time.

Im probably gonna sound like a jerk, but whatevs.

If you want tons of comments, make popular stuff. Naked chicks. Mainstream superheroes/tv stars/etc. ...

I appreciate both types of comments, though ones that help me improve my skills or works are more useful. Constructive criticism is always appreciated here, and I have thick skin, so if something is lacking in my customs, feel free to make it known, I do the same myself with many of my comments.

I would like to know some tips too, because I barely get any comments. Maybe post on a Monday or Friday? Monday so people have the whole week to comment, or Friday so they have the whole weekend to comment? Just my 2 cents.
